Santa bought me a new zumo and could use advice on install.
it seems that after following the mounting that the electrical wants to me connected directly to battery.
i definitely want it to turn on and off with the key, but this connection will leave it on always?
A cig lighter connection would be the most convenient, but Garmin wants the cig connection only for auto use.
What connection has others used?
thanks
it!s an 08 airbag

The aux post beside of fuse box will turn on an off with the key.i installed a xm radio, ran 2 wires from aux up to the left glove box wired a cig, connection works good.

I connected mine to the auxilary 12v power under the left faring pocket. Went to Electrical Connection and bought a power plug extender with splitter. This runs my Garmin Zumo 665LM and volt meter gauge I installed on the right side of faring. I bought the volt meter and panel from Electrical Connection also.
All works well ..............

A bit late to the party, but here's my install.

I have an Eastern Beaver PC8 http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Wiring_Kits/Fuseboxes/PC-8/pc-8.html#30akit fuse block that is under my seat. I use it as a power point for my radar detector, GPS, a USB Port and a couple of other things.

Here it is. It has a switched side,6 fuses, and a live all the time 2 fuses.
I use the OEM Fuse block, accessory fuse, to trigger the PC8 Relay.

On the Zumo 660 wire assembly is an audio out jack. I bought a two into one (two males, single female) audio splitter from Radio Shack. I then connected this to the Aux on the bike, with the splitter female connection, routed one of the male's up into the left box and the other male to the Garmin audio out connector.

This gives me audio instructions from the Garmin, through the Aux setting, into my helmet. Using the splitter cable I can still plug my iPod in as well, but for the most part that's not necessary as I have all my tunes on the Garmin 660 and it's easier to control the playlist and what's playing on the Garmin that an iPod in my left pocket.

Hope this helps.

What length kit did you order to mount the fuse panel under the seat.

Very nice instillation.

I ordered the 30" kit as I wasn't quite sure where I would install it, under the seat or in the trunk.

Where I ended up putting it, I could have got away with the 18" or 24" kit. There's plenty of space between the rear fender and the banks of OEM relays to coil up the extra wire.
