Has anyone used this setup, or anyone hava an opinion? I can get the Nuvi 750 from Sam's club for $200 and the Ram box and mount is around $80-85 from Ram. That would give me a waterproof GPS alot cheaper than a Zumo 550.

If you're trying to same money, before I would go to all of that hassle, I would look at a Garmin 2730 or 2820 (depending on if you want Bluetooth capability). The 2820 has Bluetooth capability, the 2730 does not.

Both support XM Radio functions to then you need to decide do you want XM. To receive XM, you will need the Garmin GXM30 antenna. No other antenna will work.

Once that decision has been made, go shopping. Many of us here on th board have purchased GPS's from GetFeetWet.com. The 2730 and 2820 and both waterproof so no "Aqua Box" is needed. There....I just saved you $80!

Here are some links to prices:

After that, get you a RAM mount and a wiring harness and away you go. Contact Jon ( GoldwingGadgets.com) for all your wiring and mounting needs.

Also, read some of the other threads on this board. You'll see a lot of information.

We have two Nuvi 750's and love them. The wife uses one on her GL1800 with a Ram mount. When it looks like rain she just puts a zip lock bag over it along with a couple rubber bands and has NEVER had a issue even in heavy down pours all day long.
I use my good old 496 that has the weather maps that I trust when ever I am on a trip.
