as of today there are substantial Map Updates for those using Garmin NUVI GPS units, I had to add a Micro Chip to mine to accept all the new data. It is update 2020-10

Do you mean that the unit itself won’t accept all the data update? I’ve never added a card to my 2757. Just keep it basic.

Yes this is on my NUVI 57 with lifetime updates, it tells you, due to the amount of data the micro chip (they recommend a 16 Mbs chip)should be added. You also have the choice of only having a specific area updated( no chip required). I had to do the same thing on my 2455 a couple years ago.

I have a couple of NUVi's and they both require an SD card for North America maps upgrade. I also might add that you need to re-format the SD card before you attempt to download the maps upgrade from GARMIN. If you get the error not enough storage space it's because you have to format the SD card.
