I got the Gerbings panel port kit but concerned that it looks a bit flimsy. I am thinking of getting the conversion cord to allow me to power the dual heat troller with a powerlet versus the Gerbings port kit.

Those of you with a powerlet connector....is it rock solid when plugged in? I want something that is major heavy duty solid when plugged in.

On top is the Powerlet and below that is the Gerbing. This is ALSO the location I want to mount it. Thoughts?

The Gerbing plug is more commonly referred to as a coax power connector. They are pretty durable as is the Powerlet. Powerlets come in various grades though. Pay a little more and get one with better plating and heavier construction. I put cigarette lighter conectors on my Wing and wished I installed Powerlets. This is one of the best sources for them:

I agree with the "I wish I'd used powerlet" on my first install.

Here's another source for Powerlet and related motorcycle electrical items:

Awesome customer service, fast shipping. I had my order in 3 (three) days!

You use that location for your heated gear?
I do. I use an extension connected to a dual controller and usually power 2 heated jacket liners and gloves. Gerbing says not to do it this way but no problems with over 18,000 miles.

First Class....

Powerlets stuff is first class. You will have no problems with this connector. I've had one on my VTX for 9 years....use it for both battery tender and heated clothing. I have one ordered for the wing now.
