Svein,
Remove the battery and charge it thoroughly. Your battery may be ruined or it may simply need charging, but I can almost guarantee you that your battery voltage is dropping below 10 volts as you attempt to start the engine. You likely drained the battery when you were testing the trailer lights.

04 GL1800 Won't start

Hey Svein:

Stop Screwing Around before you really foul things up. You don't know what is wrong, what the h..l you are dojng, and neither does anybody else reading this board. You are dealing with a very complex system, and one wrong move can be disastrous.

Get the bike to your dealer!!!!!!!!!!! It is under warranty. Why are you trying to fix it yourself? You are asking for major problems because if you screw up something trying to fix it, your warranty will be worthless.

svein..do your headlights come on at all when you turn the ignition key on? bright, dim or not at all? if dim or not at all, two things come to mind. dim would tell me a run down battery. Recharge the battery fully. You need at least 10.2 volts to engage the starter. Check the battery with a load tester too. May check ok with a static test but may fail a heavy load test. If the head lights dont come on at all, sounds like you may have a main fuse problem...pull ur main fuses and double check them.
