I contacted Garmin a few days ago. I had removed my memory card from the Navi unit on the bike and inserted it in a card reader connected to my PC. There are three files there but I was unable to read them. I have a Garmin 276C and thought that perhaps the software for that would allow me to read the Goldwing Navi system but it did not. You can see below the email I received back from Garmin. It looks as if they are working on an update that should be available by April of 07.

Hello John,

Garmin is currently working on
those updates, and they should be available in April of next year. If you
have any further questions feel free to contact Garmin via e-mail or by
phone (listed below).

So what will the update from Garmin allow us to do? Use Mapsource and save routes perhaps?
I doubt it. It probably is a newer version of the maps and POIs.
There is a thread on the GPS and MP3 board about upgrading the memory card to the current maps. Ask a question there and they can assist. If you call Garmin and ask they will tell you the new maps are not released yet, but others have done it with no side effects.
Good Luck!

I have the '06 with NAV and I've found the GPS useful, but the maps are very inaccurate, at least in north Florida. The worst thing is they display roads that do not exist, never have and never will. Another annoyance is the constant popup of "Unverified road". Sure would be nice if we could disable that popup, and get inexpensive accurate updates. Then again, I still believe in Santa.

Ride long and safe..and Merry Christmas to all..

Hey I am not giving up on Santa on Christmas Eve but as far as Honda or Garmin doing any useful updates to my 06 Nav System its not going to happen. They might and I am sure they will update the maps but that is not going to fix all the problems this model GPS brings with it. It is a automotive type GPS and will never do what the cheapest stand alone GPS does, like have a speed reading, a simple compass page, etc. Just not gonna happen.
