With the weather darn near perfect, we couldn't have picked a better day for a ride out and through East Texas. Thanks to Brian Hand, ably helped by his son-in-law, Jason, and older brother, Robert, Shooter and Pam, Lee and Danny (from my church, Lee's the pastor, Danny's a deacon) we had a rousing good time. Put over 370 miles on the scooter. We had a GL1800, GL1100, Yamaha 800cc something-or-other, an HD Electra-Glide (Shooter's), a VTX, a Valk and the Silver Wing.

Actualy made it home safe and sound. Last time I took this trip, Ipulled out in front of a pickup in Kaufman that eventually led to my selling Rio (my yellow 2001 GL1800).

But today was one for the books. Temps in the low 70s, hardly any wind to speak of (as compared to the 35-45 mph we had yesterday). Only complaint is heading home directly into the sun. That took a little of the joy out of the ride for about a half-hour - but we got it back right after the sun went down for the evening.

Sure glad I got the Hyperpro springs installed in the front suspension before this ride. Man, what a difference!

Thanks again, Brian - you sure do know some good roads (and a good seafood restaurant, too).

Bob, Find me a job in Texas and I might move down there. You guys have all the fun.

Glad you all had a good trip.

You will have to give me more details on the roads as Polecat and I are planning on coming that way in March. Don't know for sure what the time slot will be but if we have time you can maybe give us a guided tour??

The guided tours are the responsibility of Brian Hand. He's the one that knows those roads like the back of his hand. Although he did give me his written directions, so I can put it all in the 2610 and run it whether he's available or not.

When in Kerrville, try and get Tom Finch to escort you around. He knows those roads like Brian knows East Texas. Great to listen to his chatter as he will let you know where all the crotch rockets and HDs went off a cliff during the ride.

Sure, come on down. We'll figure out something or other.
