Have a 2001A. The grip heater switch (original - Honda equipment) is erratic. Mechanic looked at the switch and said he cannot get it open to do any work. As in - quasi sealed. I was willing to order a replacement switch but dealer said it was not possible to order the switch alone. Anyone have any suggestions for repair or replacement with Honda or off the shelf parts? And thanks for the help. FRISKY

I have heard that about the Honda grips, you can't get replacement parts, maybe some one bought a kit to replace a bad grip and they have the switch left over, wouldn't hurt to post it on the wanted section. Last week there was a person on e-bay selling a set for $100.00.

I would be interested in your old non-functional switch as an experimental piece to see if there is some way to rework it. Let me know please.

Grip heater switch

Perfectly willing to give you the old one, but I need something to replace it.
Let me know if you find something suitable and we are on. My 2001A runs like new with 42K miles and I intend to keep it for the foreseeable future. Screw them and their big price increase.

The only choices seem to be:
1. Original Hondaline - expensive
2. New right hand plastic panel (PANEL, R. 83160-MCA-000 ~$14) plus heated grip kit from Big Bike parts, see http://www.directlineparts.com/product.asp?pid=4292&str=4
3. New right hand panel plus Heat Troller http://www.warmnsafe.com/motorcycle_handgrips.php?PHPSESSID=49a77086bee5c58f2cb119db1ab1e7d4
4. Heated grip kit from Electrical Connection, but note this is not a variable control and you WILL need a resistor with your grips if you use it http://www.directlineparts.com/product.asp?pid=6546&str=4
5. New right hand accessory panel with switches and digital voltmeter. Use a variable Heat Troller installed on the left side under the key lock? http://www.wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/3523_GL1800_Accessory_Digital_Voltmeter_w_Acc_Switch
6. New right hand panel, leave blank, install HeatTroller elsewhere.
