I have been having a hum in my audio for some time now but it seems to be much worse after being stored for the winter so.. I decided to clean up the two grounds which I read somewhere on a thread here, and connect them together. Of course now that I am doing the job I can't find the thread. I have not been able to get the gas tank all the way out but it is far enough out that I can get to the main ground. What I would really like now is a photo of the other ground on the right side. I see only one bolt immediately aft of the rear master cylinder but it does not look anything like a ground and has no wires going to it. Also, what size wire should I use to connect the two grounds? Thank guys, I know someone will help out an old sailor down on his luck! Reg

Here you go. Cable end that's connected there will look just a little different than this 06 and newer version. 6 gauge wire will do.

Thanks

Thanks, exactly what was needed for someone with my skillset! Mission accomplished now all I have to do is replace the top shelter.

In 04 they moved the headset harnesses out of the main wire loom and added a noise filter (choke) on the audio ground to try get rid of all the hum in the headsets. They later released a mod kit that allowed owners of 01-03 bikes to do the same thing. I don't know if the update harness kit is still available or not, but it might be worth looking into.

The part number is Honda P/N 32190-MCA-305

I've got some installation photos in a gallery here: http://www.pbase.com/fredharmon/noisefilter
