I've been to 4 different key making businesses; last one was a locksmith. No one carries the AXXES 27, but all have used the HD103. Of the 6 keys made, 2 will operate the trunk, right fairing pocket, and gas cap. Neither of the remaining 2 will operate the ignition. What's going on??? Thanks!!

Without seeing the keys I am going to guess that the key blanks that don't work are too short for the ignition switch. The actual key blade from the stop to the tip is too short. A locksmith should be able to spot the issue in about two seconds and fix it in under a minute.

Finally made it to K-Mart and both keys they made were AXXESS 27 and worked 1st time in the ignition and all locks.

I had my spare made at home depot from an Axess 27 blank. The "key" to success, posted here many times, is to get the one with no rubber or plastic cover on the handle. The rubber makes the blade too short for the ignition.

keys

My experience today. Ace hardware cut me a key. Worked on all places except ignition. I ground groves to upper end of key. Works in all places except handlebar lock including ignition. Will try a different blank. This was a HD103. Locksmith here i come for the right blank. Dealer was no help btw.

I went thru 6 HD103 keys, before I found K-Mart (AXXESS 27) that worked in all places necessary.

I just found Axxess 27 key blanks (without the plastic head) at Menard's (midwest home improvement stores) and Blain's Farm and Fleet (midwest farm supply stores).

new key

Had a couple made last week. ilco HD110-p Worked in all places. Locksmith. Kid said he would have to order that blank. Little old lady said she had those blanks under the counter. Less than 4 bucks for two. Dealer was no help and hardware store used the 103 and it didn't work. hth

Can't Honda get one?
I got my "spare" from the Honda dealer right after I bought my 2007. I asked if I should have received 2 keys (since I received 2 with every other new vehicle I bought), and they came up with a Honda key blank. I had to get it cut, but that wasn't a big deal. It works just like the original.
