Headset for a Shoei Multitec helmet

I installed a J&M ECD 584-FL headset in a Shoei Multitec helmet. The speakers are too thick for this helmet. Has anyone tried the J&M HS-BCD279-UN headset? Any other recommendations on a headset that will fit this helmet?

Thanks

Check with Ed, at edsets.com. His 3G stuff might be perfect....he can advise you. Call him.
I use Edsets in mine. No mod needed on the speaker position..velcro in the speaker bag and the fit is great on my pumpkin...the surface mic installed very easy by notching the foam.

When I got my Shoei Multitec, I wanted the 584's but didn't want the "clamp" on the side of the helmet so I sent it to Sierra Electronics and had them do the install.

Take a look at this thread for info and pictures: http://www.gl1800riders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=197812

After a couple of months, I go bored with the white and had my helmet painted: http://www.gl1800riders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179838

If you have a question or want more info, send me a PM.
Shoei headset?

Bartman,

Can you post a photo of the inside of your helmet? Can you tell if they did and cutting to get the speakers to fit?

Thanks
Ed
+1 on what Bartman said. Ed, no cutting as far as I can tell.

It doesn't look like they did any cutting, although it does seem they put a little padding behind the speaker to bring it out a little on the right side.

I will tell you this. The standard boom that comes with the 584's is too short so they substitute a longer boom so it come directly in front of your mouth.

Here are the images from the right side.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem when I installed the Elite 584s in my Multitec; the speakers were too thick. I called J&M and found out they had just introduced new Ultra Slim speakers. I ordered them and they fit (in my helmet) a lot better than the ones that came with the headset. So far I have not had any problems with them. They are shown on the J&M web site.
Thanks for the photos Bartman, that helps.
