Well I may regret this but here goes:roll:. Anyway after many miles riding behind Tim(Shuckaduck) I've been giving some thought on trying a CT. I have a spare rear wheel but what I don't know is who will put a ct on a bike wheel. Is there anyone on here from the Phoenix area that uses one and can help me with some info. Off the top of my head I can't think of anyone down here who is using one.

Take the spare wheel and tire to your local tire shop, if asked, the wheel goes on a trailer. It cost me $5.00 at mine!
Yep, $5 but if you see those guys struggling getting that super thick walled tire on the rim, be sure to tip them well enough. That way, when it is time for the next CT mounting, they won't frown as much. Oh yeah, be sure to ask them if they handle aluminum wheels.
;) Rocky can be there just after dinner!

Wayne.just go to any discount tire store and like they said "Tell them it goes on a trike o trailer"...Any tire shop will do..
I took mine to a small local garage 5 minutes and $13+ later they were done. They asked what the wheel went on I told them, they didn't seem to care.

You do need to ask them if they have a rim clamp machine for fancy chrome rims. If they use a regular machine that pushes out against the inside of the rim, you will have three neat little toothmarks on the rim.

mounting a ct

One of the best places to get a CT mounted is a shop that does the big truck tires and custom cars. They usually have one of those super changers that clamps up on the inside with special doo-dads.It takes the place I go to here in Hiawassee GA. five minutes and five bucks.
I took mine to a used tire guy. He could have cared less and it cost me $5 to mount because i run dynabeads.

NOTE: most clamps on the mounting machine usually clamp to the inside of a car rim, BUT they also will clamp to the outside to the rim for the motorcycle tire. Mounts just fine when clamped from the outside. NO ISSUE

too easy. I put way too much thought to it.
pagaloomer,
Where do you get your c/t done in Hiawassee????? Do you buy the tire there or just bring them the wheel and tire??? Thanks Semper-fi :flg:
I've been giving some thought on trying a CT.
Fair warning........

Once you try, you will buy !!!

Good luck in your quest and let us know your thoughts when you get a hundred or so miles under you.
Amazing...

A day ago, I made a similar comment about tail-gunning Leftwinger...

Don't yet have the spare rim; working on that.
Good decision wayne, hope you like it. Did you get a new front tire yet?
although I need a new one and it's on order the funny thing is once we left badwater and got away form all that cement dust the tire looks much better. It would seem that the cement dust pretty much filled in what was left of the center groove and made it look a lot worse. Not saying I don't need a new tire just that right now it looks better than it did in Death Valley.
Wayne, how's the CT going. Did you find a shop

Ya-What he said..Come on spill the beans-we want to know what cha tink.
I have not bought a CT yet. Been busy getting or trying to get a new front. Also haven't decided what to try. Sounds like either the Pirelli or Kuhmo seem to be the most preferred at this time. I also just put a new rear on so I'll probably scuff it in some. Hopefully if I do this I'll have it on in time for the summer riding season where I put most of my miles on. In fact I haven't even started looking as to where to get them. I know about the online places I just haven't done it yet.
i;ll be gong to discount tire soon and will ask about the CT mounted on a MC rim, I will also be placing an order for the pereli RF. 195 55 16
I just checked at Dicount Tire (Bell Rd and 15th Ave) and was quoted 195.70 inc mount/bal/tax. The guy said no problem mounting on a bike rim, but they did need to see the rim first, most likely to see if the rim fits their tire machine. The Eufori needs to be brought in from Cali....2-3 day lead time.
went to the discount tire on chandler BLVD and alma school, says they dont have the correct tools...so how many arizonians are going to do this? can we save by going in bulk, or buying in bulk???

I would drive to bell road if they are able to do this. I think their all closed till monday..
