Judy does 99% of the driving making me the passenger. She is also the taller of the two of us. The seating position on our GL1500 was such that I could see over the top of her helmet and I liked it. I could see traffic and signs very well. Honda in its wisdom has changed that and I now see the back of her helmet. Hal in his wisdom (and sales) has seen to it that I can no longer afford a custom seat. Is there any way that I gain an 1" or two in the passenger seat compartment. Will the stock seat accept a little more foam? Anyone else have this problem and how have you solved it - short of a custom seat?

Jim,

Start eating lots of PASTA....LOL

I think that short of a custom seat, you are out of luck. I don't think that it is a good idea to sit on a cushion or anything like that.

I am fortunate in that Meesh is way taller then me ( but then so is everyone else...LOL)

I would think, that if Judy is short, you might want to think about lowering her position and at the same time raising yours a bit. I don't know, if she can flat foot the wing or not.

Just a piece of a suggestion.

Hal had a sale? When was it?.....LOL

Good Luck

I had a Butt Buffer gel pad with elastic straps and a non slip backing that I used on the stock seat of my 1500. It was thick enough that it raised me up some, It's hard to say how much, but it was noticable. It was kinda pricey, but much cheaper than a custom seat. Here are a couple of links for gel pads.
