New 2010 GL1800 with less than 1000 miles.

I have a thumping sound when slowing or coming to a stop.
It doesn't happen all the time. Maybe about 70% of the time.
I've checked the wheels, all the plastic and nothing seems to be loose.

It sounds as if it's coming from the front.

Does anyone have any ideas before I go to the dealer. I wouldn't know what to tell the dealer and (Murphy's Law) if they take it for a ride it probably wouldn't do.

It just thump's two or three times and thats it.

Could it be that anti-dive unit?

Does it only do it when your using the brakes?

You might want to check the tires for a small bulge. It's doubtful but don't cost anything to check!:shrug:

No. Does it sometimes just slowing and also with brake.
Also, it is not ABS.

It driving me nuts trying to find it.

Check your trunk and saddlebags for something sliding around, like the tool kit....

Is it a very fast thumping like running over asphalt rumbles in the emergency lanes while in the car. The brakes will make that sound and shutter on the bike in hot weather. Apply front brakes first and it stops.

Do you have a front fender extension? Check the fender it may be cracked. Ask me how I know.............................

Slower than that. It will do it 5 or 6 times then stop even before I apply the brakes.

No fender entension but I will double check the fender.
