The local TV station just did a story about my new 'wing and the airbag. Among other things, I talked about some of the comments posted here on the forum. The reporter asked lots of questions and the cameraman shot lots of action then rode with me. Seems they contacted the dealer who put them in touch with me. They said that they have been asked to feed the piece to CBS, so who knows, maybe I'll be a star with Katie tonight.

It was kinda neat being back on camera after 6 years. 8) :excited:

Actually, I worked nationally and internationally on radio and TV. My air name, however was John Leslie. Jan Kokochak (which is my real name) was too difficult to use, specially at the time I got into the business back in the 60s. I spent lots of time "on the air" in New York, Des Moines, Kansas City, Syracuse and Albany, but for about 15 years, I lived out of a suitcase everywhere in the world, and you would have seen or heard some of my stuff on CNN, CBS, NBC, The Russian National Radio and Television system, The BBC, The Irish National TV system, Voice of America and a few others. But, this is the last time you'll hear me talk about it here, because this is my hobby place and I leave my business stuff in the office :biker: If you can believe this, when we built our house in Florida and moved here three years ago, I dumped thousands and thousands of video and audio tapes into the garbage can. My daughter said, "DAD, I can't believe you did that." I said, "They are still in the dumpster if you want them." I don't know if she grabbed any or not.

I will try to find a link to the local piece and post it. I am leaving for Wings over the Smokies and the BBQ tomorrow, so am trying to get lots of things done. I could not, however, pass up the chance to get my face back on the tube. :D

It was the first thing out of my mouth.

I was pretty pleased, you should have seen me doing the tight, slow speed turns and figure 8s that I've been practicing.

Some people just never find time to do that until it's to late. Congrats 8)

Since Katie took over the CBS Evening News, I TiVO her everynight. She's the last one I see before I go to bed. What a cutie!

Jan, I'll keep a lookout for the piece. Might be interesting.

That is exactly why I chose to use Leslie (my middle name) rather than Kokochak. Since the time I was a little kid, people liked to make fun of my family name. Kokopuffs is not new or innovative. People have twisted and turned my name every which way to make fun of it. I decided to use my real name on this board, rather than a nickname, in the hope that I could be who I really am, rather than a fake name (John Leslie). It seems that regardless of how old I am, it is real sport for others to find ways to twist it around to something else. I guess I should have been born a Jones.

I am sorry, looks like I hit a cord. I will not do it again.

Jan, not trying to make fun of your last name in a personal manner, but make fun of an act of putting the media folks at the station into an uncomfortable situation surrounding your name. A smile would come to my face if I knew you asked them if they would accept a joke version of your name for your on-screen personae

Been called Saly (or Sal), short for my last name of Salyzyn, all my life. It is now part of me and both are my identity. As a result, I have long since learned to laugh at myself (roughly the first time I heard 'A boy named Sue' ). I don't care for a pseudonym ...

Actually, I own World Radio Inc, and John Morgan Seminars is a subsidiary company that World Radio owns along with a partner.

No offense taken. Sometimes, I just have to breathe a deep breath. Having been in the eye of the world for so many years, it is difficult for me to loosen up. In my business we are not allowed to make mistakes. After 45 years of sanitizing everything I said and did, I still have an edge about me that I don't like. Most people are able to put a lampshade on their head and others think it's funny, but for those of us who do not have a private life, lampshades are suicide.
