Mike Rodger was a member of another forum I am on. Last Friday, he left his home in British Columbia Canada, enroute to the start point. He was going to visit with friends on the way, and meet up with the person that was going to be his riding partner for the event. His goal? To complete the event, and nothing more.
At 1 PM Saturday, he uploaded a photo to Facebook from a stop he made in northern California. An hour later, his Spot tracker stopped.
Mike struck a deer and was killed.
His plan was to not only ride the Hoka Hey, but to hit all of contiguous Canadian provinces on this ride.
Mike was 55, and didn't care what a person rode. All that mattered is they shared a love of the road.
