It's on the news every night: The economy.

I think "the economy" just gave Honda a good excuse to shut down the "hoot". Their attendance and vendor participation had fallen over the past few years. We decided not to go last summer just because it was such a drag in 2007. However, we were planning to go back this year. Oh well.

Come on over to Bryson City for the Smoky Mountain Ride In. It'll be a lot more fun and the riding will be amazing.
Sorry John
I just had to mention the Smoiky Ride
I thought I registered a while back but didn't see my name on the list. I just registered.
there is the wings over th smokies in the fall
The THP's attitude toward motorcyclists could have been a contributing factor also. Not so much the decision to cancel the Hoot but the decline in participation the year before. Maybe not GW's in general but GW's were not the only motorcycles that attended. I go up to the area 4 or 5 times a year but I try to most of my riding on the NC and GA side of the line. JMHO

Don't be sorry - a bunch more just signed up!

For those who did not know about this, remember:
  1. You must make your own room/camping reservations
  2. The Sat PM BBQ is the one social event
  3. Ride routes are posted but there are no designated leaders
  4. The singular prupose is to meet, ride and HAVE FUN!
  5. Dates for the following year: June 17 - 20
  6. http://jkgraphics.com/smoky.html for updates
Seems like there should have been enough cash in the entry/reservation fees to keep it going. We had some great times there but would have like to have seen it move to differant locations each year.
OK

OK, the alternate choice for 2009 is Bryson City, NC!
