Honda Oil Filter ?????

I just bought my 3rd oil filter from the dealer for my gl1800. Maybe the first time i didn't notice cause I was so excited about the bike. But today I noticed:

$ 15.00 for filter alone :eek:4:

Is this right? Is there an aftermarket thats as good but cost less? Is there a discount on quantities? Is there a discount ordering online?

Is there a Santa Claus????

Love my bike but have never paid that much for a 5.00 filter.

thanks, Old Crow

If you plan to keep the wing for a while...I'd buy in quantity from Hal. Might as well get a 10 pack of crush washers (Oil and Rear End are the same) and maybe some bottles of rear end oil. The actual oil is up to you. My dealer's price on GN4 is about the same as Hal's.

As for the Santa Claus thing...I'd have to say yes...at least in spirit.

This question has been beaten to death more times than you can imagine !

That link has some good info, take your time and read thru it all.
The link above is a good read on the filters... yep, the dealer is going to stick it to ya for OEM filters... Hal will give you a better deal.

The aftermarket filters are available, even at Walmart. I personally believe your GW will survive just fine with any of them...
They're about $8.00 from Hal, but split a 10 pack with a buddy and you can save a few bucks:lol: Free shipping, no tax
I got 6 from Wal Mart when they were on sale for $1.67 each.
to name a few

Opinions on filters run on forever. If you want to get into a 30 page discussion on them just mention amsoil filter:eek:4: (please don't)

What is Amsoil? I've heard the name a few times here, but never had the time to fully investigate exactly what it is or what it does. If I wanted only the best for my Wing, would this be a wise choice?

By far the best. Meets and exceeds Goldwing OEM filter specifications. The Amsoil EaOM103 synthetic nanofiber oil filters filter out smaller particles, hold more dirt, and are warranted for 16,000 miles up to a year. Commercial/Dealer/Preferred Customer wholesale price is $12.50 each. MSRP is $16.10. You can learn more about these filters at https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaom.aspx?zo=1181889 .

You won't find a better oil filter but a better price is certainly in your future.
I use the Super Tec oil filter from Wal Mart.. over 100,000 total on 2 different GL1800's .. no problems what so ever.. last time I bought
a half dozen they were $3.27 each..

cosmic
Buy oem right here from Hal. He supports us, let's support him:roll:
We use the Purolator L14612. Fits the FZ6, the Wing, the Star1300 and the Kid's Mazda Miata.

Works for us.

Or like someone else said - buy them (Honda OEM) in bulk from Hal and split it with a friend. The Honda OEM filters are decent filters.

gee cosmic i think u must have been over charged, what filter did u buy ?

correct filter is walmart super tech ST6607

around here they are more like $2.10 , they used to b below $2

correct fram filter is 6607 , couple more dollars at walmart
buy mine at napa, certainly a lot cheaper than oem
yeah bought a case of amsoil so good for a couple of years
Thanks for all the input, Like the Idea of ordering OEM from Hal, with that option never should have a problem with warranty claim if ever comes up. When I worked at a car dealership some of the manufacturers would use that as ammo to keep from paying a warranty claim. I don't need the hassle.

And now I'm crushed to find out there is no Santa Claus:22yikes:

This forum is sooo much fun. I am normally a people watcher and now from comments posted I get to imagine what people are really like!

Is tooooooo Funny!!!!!!:clap2:
