Is it necessary to completely disassemble the trunk lid and remove it to install the rear speakers, or is there an easier method that dealers use??

Remove seat.

Remove trunk lid liner, not lid.

Remove 5 screws from under each speaker pod, 2 under lid liner and 3 outside.
Hint.... The 4 longer screws, 2 each side, go under the liner and into the pods.

Separate pods/speaker housings.

Install speakers and plug into harness behind the bank of relays under the seat.

Rear Speaker Install

AS Red says...
Also,
Take care in running speaker wire from trunk through to seat as not to pinch in trunk hinge when opening and closing.

Excellent advice. Followed this and had my rear speakers fitted in less than 20 minutes. And having done this procedure, I can now sleep at night knowing that whatever may fall off my bike whilst Im riding, its NOT going to be the trunk lid liner.... how many screws??

Customer: "My Wing has an awful lot of rattles on it"...
Honda: "Yeah, we would have fixed all that, but we used all the screws in the trunk....."
