Weights.

 

I use Counteract beads. On both my 2012 and 2018, which have TPMS, collectively over 95K miles. I have not had any problems. Counteract states their beads will not harm TPMS.

 

Use weights when they’re required.

 

Balanced at the tire dealer's shop.

Never used anything other than normal wheel weights. Never had a problem with tire balance, weird, asymmetrical tire wear, or any tire issues in more than 40 years of street and off road riding. Ever.

Ride-On

 

I use a Weaver machine similar to this one, and weights.

 

Put on a new front tire a couple weeks ago before an 1000+ mile trip.
I used Dyna beads.

 

Balance my own with weights.

 

I balance mine by pushing down on the handlebars as the heavy part of the tire comes up. Smooth as glass, and I have enormous triceps.

Dyna-beads for 25+ years

 

Wow, I didn't know they're been around that long!

 

Wheel weights and a Marc Parnes balancer is what I use.

 

Weights and the Marc Parnes balancer for me as well.

 

I use the centramatic balancers on front and back. I didn't want to take a chance on damaging the tpms sensors with dyna beads, and I know the tires get out of balance after a while with regular weights. The bike rides really smooth now.

My 2007's tires are balanced by the local mechanic who replace them for me 😁😎

It works very well and never had any issues. 👍

 

This has me thinking. I've been mounting and static balancing my wheels a long time. Now, I need a way to check the balance of the rear wheel.

 

What issue have you encounterd that prevents putting rear wheel on balance stand?

I have an Indy that does my tires for my bike. Never had a problem.

 

I have been using Counter Act balance beads in my motorcycle and trailer tires for about 10 years.

 

I have used beads for years on my 07 with great results, but for my 2018 DCT Tour I use sticky weights with good results(afraid the beads would pose problems with the TPMS).

 

I spin balance all my tires, and use beads. never had a TPMS issue.

 

Isn't that counter productive? If you spin balance the tire and wheel assembly, you add weights right? However, to use balance beads, it is recommended to remove the weights.

So, it appears that you spin balance, leave the weights on and then insert the beads. I guess that will work though I have read that taking the weights off is the recommended way to do things. Personally, I don't see the harm in leaving the weights on when using the beads and evidently your method has worked well.

But, I am lazy. I have a static wheel balancer and it works well. It is just time consuming and I am always looking for a better way. So, I simply mount the tire aligning the paint mark, if there is one, with the valve stem. I air up the tire to seat the tire bead to the wheel. Then I let out the air and install the beads and I am finished. I suppose if I had spent the money for a spin balancer, I'd not be using the beads.
