Crusie Control purposes?

I read an article about rain and front wheel plaining while on Cruise. It seemed to infer that the speed for purposes of cruise control is determined by the front wheel speed (i.e. ft wheel RPM's).

I thought that it was done via transmission irrespective of the front wheel as on at least one auto I repaired as a kid.

Just curious.

Comments appreciated.

The 1500's and many other bikes picked up speed from the front wheel. The 1800 gets it's speed from the trans!
