Decided to go for a little ride today. According to the weather channel there was a window of clear skies from about noon to six. I was about 20 miles from home when thunder started rolling in, BIG TIME so I put it in high gear to head for home. A couple miles in it started to rain, no biggie, I've been wet before. Then it rained a little heavier, OK still fine. Then the skies opened up and I was in the middle of the heaviest rain i've seen in a long time.

No problem, there's a bridge up ahead, I'll take cover. But alas the cover I sought was already occupied by cagers. OH well, only 5 miles to the next exit, I'll camp at a gas station til it blows over. Just then a hail storm like I've never seen in this area pounds me unmercilessly, covered the ground in less than a minute. Ever ridden in hail with a half helmet? If you think rain stings try that some day.

I managed to make it to the gas station by the grace of God, and again all cover taken by the cagers. Hail is pounding so hard I'm sure the bike is trashed, with no other options I jump the curb of the store and park under the awning and wait it out. 30 minutes later...sunny and nice. One last problem, rte. 10 is flooded and a car is stalled under a bridge. Had to turn around and detour 10 miles out of my way.

Upon a not too close inspection the bike appears to be OK. I'll look tomorrow after I thaw out.

So, how was your day?

Glad you're, OK. In days of old when I did far more extensive trips, I used to carry tent material with me that I could throw over the bike and me to get out of things like that. That way, you can make your own awning.

I heard a little distant thunder here in Cumberland county this afternoon...near Carlisle. It sounds like your day was a bit more exciting than mine.

I had an afternoon rain:rain1: in the Rockies turn into a hail :eek:4:downpour a few years ago with a couple of other guys...definitely no fun to be in.

Glad you made it home safely...I'm sure the Wing will be Ok.
You should have heard the noise on the windshield, I was sure it was gonna crack and fly apart in my face. One block from the gas station I got a red light and blew right through it 20' from a cop, he just looked at me and kept on going. If there's no dings on my wing it will be a small miracle.

How was my day you ask???

Well my wife, her sister and hubby talk me in to taking them to a casino about 80 miles north of here.

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law together came home with $1,600 playing the quarter slots, and my wife hit it big on a 2c slot machine coming home with $1,200.

I lost $20.

They paid for gas and took me out to dinner.........................

How was my day?

75 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, and a light breeze. Went to breakfast with the nice people from my GWRRA chapter then I rode around the area, had intended to head to Galveston but decided to go home and mow my yard instead. What is wrong with me? I might need professional help.

I did manage to put about 100 miles on the bike but could have done much more on such a beautiful day. Instead I did my yard and waited on my daughter to come home from her mom's. Oh well, there is always tomorrow. But tomorrow I have to wait on the refrigerator repair man, go to the grocery store, and have a meeting to attend mid afternoon across town. Then it is off to my daughter's track meet. Not looking like the wing is going to make it out of the garage for a while again. It never fails, when the weather is fantastic I have so many other obligations I just don't have time to myself.
