Published 118 hp... Someone here did a few dyno runs around 95-100 at the rear wheel...

118 at the crankshaft. I think I saw it in print somewhere. It might have been in the comparo of the GW to the K1200LT (it had 116).

Motorcyclist first road test in the Feb 2001 issue got 104.1hp and 109.9 ftlbs of torque at the rear wheel. Corrected 1/4 miles time was [email protected] 103.3 mph. I wouldn't be surprised if the 2004 and newer models make slighty less numbers due to the newer ECM that they had to reprogram and make compromises with the engines tuning to try to slow down the engine heat at slower speeds because some have had problems with overheating at slow speeds.

I also thought that Motorcyclist wrote one of the best and most detailed road test article I have seen on the GL1800 with plenty of pictures and a few sidebar articles about the man who was in charge of the then new GL1800 project and a little comparison to the then King of tourers the BMW K1200LT. If you have never read that road test of the GL1800 it is worth getting a back issue.
