Thanks for the pics. I hate it for my friends in NC, but it's not unusual for the river front towns and the OBX. Wonderful to live there, but lots of exposure as well.

Joe, I hope you weren't in that mall, and that all is well.

And Robeth, how'd you Sea bees and Leathernecks manage? Hope you're ok.

I remember in '99 when Floyd dumped all that water in NC, and it was a couple of weeks later that all our coastal rivers here in SC swelled and flooded, too.

We'll just have to watch and see.

In short, most here in the Camp Lejeune area were basically spared from serious damage. Most folks had lots of debris and a few downed trees.

My saga is documented here, if you care to read the whole thing. The worst part was being without power for 54 hours and the cleanup of the yard.

Sure glad it wasn't worse for us here. From looking at the pics above it seems Okracoke and Hatteras took a real beating.......it's time to build highway 12 again!

Glad things didnt turn out too bad for you.

Yes, NC 12 will have to be rebuilt again! Gov. ordered the DOT to make plans to fix the road so this doesnt happen again. :shrug:

Still no power at my house in Bath. Water under the house, but none inside
(by bare inches). One 83 y/o woman said she had never seen the water go that high. I can show pics when power comes back on.

Ashamed to see hwy 12 torn up like that. That is one of the hwys that I would like to travel on, just to see what it is like.
Contrary to what the Gov. says, I don't think there is a way to fix the road so that this never happens again. Nature will always find a way.
