According to a story in todays Fresno Bee, Hwy 1 through Big Sur to Carmel is set to open this friday June 10th. No word on exactly what time.

I took a ride down to Gorda yesterday and the flagman said it will be open after Friday. However, there are at least 2 one lane sections on the north side that are controlled by signals. One is between the Bixby and Rocky Point bridges and the other is at Lucia. The hiway is generally in good shape, but there are some patched sections that suck.

Of course there is no need for speed with all the scenery and the tourists will now start to pour through.

'bout drove my trailer up the mountainside there at Lucia back in May... :shock:

Otherwise, it'll be nice when it's open for the area to regain the tourists; lifeblood of the area.
