Well this will be a record I was able to ride 75 miles in Indiana on Dec 31 2003. Hard to believe but true. Now we can get serious about the WHITE death all over the ground. :D Ride Safe all of you that can still ride

ride 8)

I rode to work yesterday, i would probably ride today, but my red-head has my day pretty well structured. It usually gets to 50 degrees here in southern indiana every couple of weeks.

Good for you redwood. You too JD. I well remember the winters in Indiana from when I was a kid. I'm surprised you can get out at all on the bikes this time of year. Take every chance you can get.

I only managed to get in about 40 miles yesterday while it was almost 40 ... but I managed to get in over 60 miles today as my first ride of 2004. All country roads and the temp sensor seemed to be stuck on 32 degrees. Feet were getting a bit cold when I got back .... too bad the temp display doesn't also show wind chill as I'd have been interested to see what the chill factor was when I hit 100+ on a nice straighaway ... yeehaw.
Not a bad winter for riding in Michigan so far ... rode on the first day of winter, last day of 2003 and first day of 2004. My sympathies for those of you that "winterize" your rides (especially you, Dennis ... LOL)

Even in North Central Indiana we got to ride. A buddy and myself left Logansport this morning, 1-1-04 about 9:30. The temp. was 34 deg. and frost still on the ground. We rode to Huntington about 55 miles and met 5 other guys for coffee and then made a loop that included a chili stop at another friends. We got back to Logansport about 3:30 and 160 miles later. I must admit some of the trip was chilly but it was still better than going to work or a visit to the dentist. :D :)

I am posting a picture of where we met for the ride.

Indiana Ride

I rode a few miles yesterday in Souther Indiana. Today looked doubtful early this morning but I decided, what the hell, and suited up. By the time I got ready and rolled the bike outta the garage, about 0830, the rain had quit and temp was 45° so all I had to deal with was the wet roads. And you all know how much wet roads can screw up a clean bike.

I started to do the other 69 miles but the thunderstorm clouds were brewing so I headed toward the barn. I had been home about ½ hour and the bottom fell outta the sky. Glad I had the "dirty" bike safely in the garage.

Weather good 242 people for lunch

Hey guys n gals ... we got to ride too! Yesterday I rode in south eastern Indiana - got in about 120 miles before I pulled into the garage. Beautiful day in Indiana. Rising Sun, Versailles ... Route 262 with bunches of curves. :D

Today ... January 1, a number of local GWRRA Chapters had 87 bikes at "Famous Daves Restaurant" in the northern Cincinnati area. About 242 people , I am told, from various chapters closed in on the restaurant on bikes and in cars for the annual Polar Bear Ride.

It was about 40 when we arrived but 50 degrees when we left the restaurant and we were riding in beautiful weather! So much for the polar bear stuff! The bikes were mostly Gold Wings from Cincinnati, Ohio area, Middletown, Dayton, Hamilton and south eastern Indiana. :D

Great day to ride.

Last rider of 2003

I too rode on the last day of the year about 65 miles and with the wind it was a real chore. I also road with 5Ross today but I left from Angola, Indiana the very north east corner of Indiana. It was 28 degrees when I left at 8:30 AM and after our fun ride at 245 miles it was 4:00 PM and a balmy 41 degrees when I hit home. I believe we all had a great ride.
