Just ordered a CB from Hal and was wondering if there are any tricks to installing the CB and getting the SWR's right. This is my first CB install in anything in about 25 years.

Are the instructions that come with the CB good enough or do I need the inside tricks to get it right. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I would hate to burn up the CB before I get to use it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The instructions are not the greatest, but there are several good picture links if you do a search for "GL1800 CB install" or sumum like that.

Good luck. I had a bit of confusion with the filter that goes on the fuel pump. the other two(for the fans) are easy but a bit difficult to get to.

The rest is not too difficult....good luck.

Here's some tips, but I never remove the shelter.

Those are the instructions I used and if followed step by step, taking one's time, you'll find it rather easy. I used a 3/8" Milwaukee right angle drill and hole saw for the cables. No problems at all.

I didn't want to mess with adjusting SWR, so I replaced my existing AM/FM antenna with one from Sierra. http://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp ... E3&cat=106 Also, I read a few comments on this forum from people that added the CB antenna on the left side and there is apparently a tendancy to run into it when the Wing is on its side stand. Sounded logical and I preferred the cleaner look of one antenna, so that's what I did.

Good Luck!

Don't take the trunk off ... that is not necessary.
