Ipod -or- MP3 Recommendation & CA Wings AWOL ?

614 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  ltworf
I have a '09 Wing w/the dealer-installed input jack. I've gone back & read some previous threads here re: Ipods/MP3's & they're probably dated by now - with most going back several yrs.

I'm looking for Ipod/MP3 recommendations & plan to mate the iJET to my player. From the reading I've done I presume I'm looking for flash, as-opposed to hard-drive ???? Any & all recommendations appreciated.

I browsed eBay; Amazon & some other sites & they all look the same to a novice like me...... I'm also hoping somebody can clue me in on how they hard-wired their pwr supply, so as to not hafta worry about charging all the time.

On another note, are ALL the Calif. bay-area wings @ Daytona ????? I just returned to Missouri from several days in the San Jose, CA area; spent several days riding (caged) to the beach; SF; Oakland; Palo Alto; mountains; etc., & saw absolutely NO WINGS ! Saw tons of other bikes as Fri; Sat & Sun were flat gorgeous. Lotsa bikes in San Fran as we toured there all day Sat, but, again, zip wings !

Adios - Dave / Missouri / '09 Silver Wing

This one might help with alittle guidance. I got the kit from Lewis and hope to get it installed one day soon, and I bought a 4th gen Nano to keep on the bike. I'll let you know if it has any issues:lol:
We already have gps on our bikes, I think he is wanting to know the difference from mp3 player and an Ipod. The book calls for an mp3 player. I am looking for one that just will let me download my own music, not have to buy from Itunes, whatever that is. I am going to mount the cigarette lighter in the left pocket and just plug an mp3 player if i can find one without the whistles and bells. Then when its ready to charge you can just plug it in. I have an 08
I have an ipod touch that I use on my 09 wing. I will run it for a 12 hour day on the bike and when I go to charge it, it still has a half of a charge left. I am amazed how long it will run on one charge.

Per my original - I'm just looking for music & how to pwr the player for long, extended rides. Loren, I don't need another GPS. I hope to do several long rides here starting in a few weeks when "the thaw" finally arrives. Missouri-California; Missouri-Florida; Missouri-Wisconsin & Missouri-Carolinas is another on my plate.

You don't have to buy your music from Itunes to use an Ipod. I have almost 2,000 songs on mine and still haven't spent $20.00, but use Itunes to quarterback the downloads. It's free! www.itunes.com then hit the free download tab
I have multiple players, one off brand 512meg for when I forget to charge the others, 16gb sansa view expandable to 32gb, 4th gen ipod nano 16gb with the remote for changing songs and playlists. Next step is to get the Electrical Connections piece that lets you use the vacant cd chager controls to change songs, then I'll call it good.
