I noticed the thread about the guy that recieved his Iron Butt Certification. I'm new to all of this, so can someone tell me what it is that you have to do, or how far that you have to ride for this cert.:joke:
I've already have a trip planned for my new wing, to California, and up the Pacific Coast highway, leaving from Oklahoma, so I figure I'll do 3500 -4000 miles, but I guess thats nothing compared to some of you guys and gals.
Anyway I would like to know, if someone can tel me!

Thanks,

ValleyRider

It's 1000 miles within 24 hrs. That is the basic one, after that it goes up.
1500 miles in 24, etc. I heard it's addictive once you start. Give it a shot.

I see that you as I, am new to this forum welcome.

I completed my Saddlesore 1000 (1000 miles in 24 hours) back in 2005 on a shadow ace 750. After that I had the opportunity to ride from NJ to key west and another trip to nashville. I'm working on the next level 1500 in 24 for next month.

I just flew to Texas and picked up a 04 1800A which was outfitted for long distance riding (aux lighting, aux fuel tank)

Heres my ride report from that trip -

Here's a link to the Motorcycle Touring forum which has a lot of information about long distance touring and Iron butt rides.
