Gary and Mikie are right, every bit of two months. SO long ago I forgot what is the reason we are seeing this. There will be two reasons, one, from the tire companies. The other will be the real and more detailed explaination which I want to hear.
This doesn't add up to me, petrolium supply cannot be that tight. .
Will someone please explain the two reasons for the tire shortage........
if there really is one.

Could Dunlop be making changes in their manufacturing process? The company I work for gets liquid vinyl from a company in Texas. Just about every year, they shut down for upgrades/changes/cleanups, and our vinyl supply can get slow. Maybe they are working on a new line of tires? Doesn't explain the other brands, though.

No one Family of tires is in good shape. I have 21" HD fronts on back order for over two months. I have Wing Rears on BO since May, I have Sport Bike Fronts and Rears on BO since June, Cruisers on BO since July.
The picture is not good right now. I think that when the Northern states close the season, the picture will get better by Spring.
I hear a lot of speculation, but not one scintilla of the real reason for the revolving shortage.
Prices have not increased since Oct of last year, so that rumor is Bunk.
I also think that the tire manufacturers are busting their humps, filling orders for Motorcycle manufacturers for the 07 models.
A wise man would buy a tire that he needs in the future, now!

Ordered a set of Metzlers from Hal, taking advantage of the sale price. I got the email today saying they've already shipped.

I found a set OF Bridgestones last night on the web the first place I looked. Ordered on line last night. Called this AM to make sure they were in stock. I was told the set would ship out TODAY! I don't really need them yet, but all this talk about shortage has me concerned.

·Maybe the tire Company's are coming out with a better tire that last 50,000 + miles, no wobble, nocupping, puncher proof, and is on next weeks '07 Goldwing............Ya Right............ :roll:
