If I understand the question correctly, the songs you want to convert are purchased songs from the iTunes store. You cannot convert the .m4p files (the 'p' stands for PROTECTED) into .mp3 files. However: You CAN burn the songs as an audio CD and then re-import them into your library as .mp3 files.

Always a way around.

I read all the time on this forum and others about iTunes being able to convert to mp3 format. iTunes WILL NOT directly convert M4P files without first burning them to a CD, then ripping them back as MP3s. The tunes that you buy and download from iTunes are in a protected format - M4P.

Like I said. Big difference between mp4 and m4p.

Thank you.
