Kuryakyn Ergo II highway pegs?

11529 Views 53 Replies 47 Participants Last post by  dgjackson40
I am planning a 2000 mile (each way) trip this summer, and I would like to add some Highway pegs before I go so that I will be able to stretch my legs during the trip. I have been looking around on the internet, and I like the looks of the kuryakyn ergo II pegs. For those who have them, or another peg, any thoughts or recommendations. I have heard that kuryakyn does not use the best chrome, and that they will rust, is this true, or just rumor?

I appreciate any input.

Thanks

I've had bad luck with the chrome on the kury pegs. They pit and flake pretty quickly. I have the Rivco's on now but I've only put 4500 miles on them (5 Weeks) so the jury is still out. Comfort factor on them is about the same.

Good questions. I will look forward to responses. The Kury Ergo pegs look like they would work well on a GL1800 trike with 'Trike Wings' which is what I am looking for.

I've had mine on since Christmas and no problems with flaking yet. I do ride in the rain and when I took the pegs off to clean them the bolts that hold the pegs together were starting to rust. Upon reassembly I applied synthetic grease to the bolts.
I have ordered my new Wing with the Kury highway pegs. Will let you know how they work out. They worked out great on my Harley Fat Boy.

I have them and like them.

pegs

I have them, gives a good change for feet on long rides.
Don't mount them below horizontal.
The chrome on mine are peeling.
I have them and like them.. Had almost 1 yr and rise in any weather. No rust but I keep the bike clean. Did change arms fron 6" to 4" and finally to thr mini arms before I could find the right fit. If anyone needs the 4 or 6" arms I'll make you a good deal
I've got them and had to order the 4" arms for them because at 6'3" tall I needed a little more leg room. Overall, I think they are a good purchase.
Is it reasonable to conclude that Kuryakyn has a quality problem with their chrome plater? Peeling appears to be a common complaint.
I had them for over a year and never di get comfortable. I switch to mick-o-pegs and they felt good right off the bat.
I have them on my trike along with the trike wings and am happy with them. Haven't noticed any issues with the chrome yet and have had them for about a year, but they don't get exposed to adverse weather if we can avoid it. Currently using the 6" arms and they work fine for my 5'11" frame with a 32" inseam. On a trip I can stretch my legs out and rest my feet just above my heels on the top of the pegs....works well for a change of position. I have mine set at about horizontal as there's no hazard of them dragging in turns on a trike. If they drag, I've got bigger problems!!
Part of ours have been on ever since we bought the bike back in Aug of '08. Other parts have only been on for about 3 months. As for the quality of the chrome, so far it's doing fine but, who knows. I say part of them because I had to change arms because of my leg length. I got the short little arms and the way they are adjustable, I've got them in just about the best position for my legs. One day I'd like to try the Mik-0-pegs. Anyway, They seem to be lasting for me. Good luck

I put the ergo II switchblades on mine last fall with 4" arms and like them so far as for the chrome It's held up fine so far...but it's been in storage up till yesterday. I have had kury peg's and grips on my VTX for over 4 years and 34000mi. with no issues and still look real good but I clean my bikes almost before or after every ride.
Have had the Ergo II on the bike since '03 and 40k+ miles. No chrome issues on these, other Kury stuff had chrome issues. I did shear a mount off when I didn't get the kickstand down correctly and tipped over , but got a replacement mount from Kury. So, I like them....jmho, your mileage may vary.
Why do they make us buy the 4"

:wrong:Call me nuts, but 80% of the members who purchase the Ergo II's also purchase the 4" extensions. I am 5'11, so I guess I will also have to purchase the 4" so I am not riding bull legged.

Why don't they sell them in the 4" or 6" model? What an I missing?

This is more expensive when the manufacturer make us purchase the shorter extension and we just throw away the 6" ones??
I like mine. I've had them for about 2k miles and they are great. I might try the 4" arms.
I bought mine in 2004. There's a bit of rust on them, no doubt from the beating they take from road debris and from scraping the undersides in the corners. They do the job, but the 4" arms would have been better.

BTW, scraping them in the corners has never been a problem. And right after they scrape, then it's the foot pegs next.
Has anyone else tried the RIVCO mounts & pegs, Hal sells them on direct line, and they say they are triple chromed aluminum, I thinking about trying them in lieu of the Kuryakyn.
Started with the Longhorns last spring on the engine guard downtubes but they were too far forward for me to reach around the fairing so took them off. I then installed the Ergos and rode through the summer but the 6" arms still had me a little cramped. Put the 4" arms on last fall and they now are reasonably comfortable. Don't know if it is luck or what but I've never had the issue with Kury chrome others have had and I've been using their prucucts for several years.
