Maybe ridin to Pheonix in a coupla weeks and tires could probly be replaced. Soooo, I would need to order them pronto. Forgive me for the tire thread but I haven't been paying attention as of late. What's the current preference for rubber? Thanks for the opinions.

Punt! LOL....

There's no answer for you. I have enjoyed Stones most of my 130,000 miles on 18's. You will find people that like all brands. Right now you'll just be lucky to find a set of tires of any brand. That's why I said round, black, and available.

Dunflop is on strike, so you might want to take them out of the selection process!

Good Luck......

tires

And 880's are not round, so that leaves them out of the mix.

I guess that narrows the choice considerably.

Thought you might like a positive answer, one that is intended to be helpful. I ordered new BStones, 709 and 704, recently. It took about 8 - 10 days to receive them but they were available. I ordered from my local Honda dealership. Am very pleased with them for the first 400 miles used thus far.

BTW, if you don't have something helpful to say, why not just stow it. No need demonstrate what a SA you can be. There is a time and a place for humor. I would not be surprised if there are a lot of people that might like to post a question, but just don't want to be embarassed or put up with SA crap :!:

Tires

Hi All,

"Tires Unlimited" has most of your tires and cheaper than the GL1800 store. Motorcycle tires and ATC tires are all cheaper and they have them in stock. Just put another set of Mets on mine.

I, for maybe one, like the orginal D250 dunlops. No wobble, do just fine in the rain for me and they get good mileage. I recenly bought two new rears with rims (one at a great price, one at an ok price). So for the next two rear changes I dont have to mount or balance. Just recenly bought a new front front tire from " tires unlimited" for $123 including shipping. So I am set for tires for the next 30-40,000 miles maybe as I only have 6000 miles on the orginals. I will try to sale the rims as I go thru them for what ever I can get.

My take.....

Motto: 709 in front Metz rear works good
709 in front 704 rear is Bridgestone's best (though may not last as long as the Metz.
709 in front and G850 in the rear if you like 70s...works great

My latest: 709 in front Dunlop 3D Winter Sport in the rear (best grippage ever, but you would have to join the Rebel forces)

Try this You wont regret It. This first link is to Viking Tires. They have a new web site so you will have to call them for a Stone 709 ph (877) 743-3862

As for the rear. I run a run flat Car Tire at 30psi and will never go back to a regular MC tire.

Incidently this last link is to one of the largest viewed threads in the history of this forum. So there is a ton of interested and potential Darksiders out there. One of the reasons is that there is now a CT size that fits the Wing. There is not a size for the GL1500. We can thank these little hot rod cars that the kids race down the back streets for these new smaller car tire sizes. I call them "Fart Cars" cause they sound like a fart going up the street.

OK, you have my curiousity at a near-all-time high with this car tire thing. The only prob I have is what happens when it's leaned over cornering? now your on the "edge" and how can that be a good thing on a m'cycle?
Car tires are probly cheaper, more choices, but ridin on the edge kinda has me wondering. I'd like to try it tho. How does the air press effect the handling and mileage?
