Today was a beautiful, warm 56 degree day along the central Oregon coast.

I stopped near the Heceta Head lighthouse to watch the hundreds of sea lions playing around in the surf and sunning on the huge rocks below. This is also a great whale watching site when they are migrating between Alaska and Mexico.

Heceta Head is one of 8 lighthouses along the Oregon coastline (US 101) and is located between Newport and Florence. The highway varies from a few feet above sea level to hundreds of feet in elevation. It snakes along with spectacular coves and viewpoints to explore.

A true touring bike paradise!!! :D

Nice photos. I love riding in northern CA and southern OR. Hope to get back out that way in Fall of 2008. From my trip in 2004:

California, not far from Big Sur:

California, Pidgeon Point, between Santa Cruz and San Francisco

And if you had taken the turn off at Yachats not far from Heceta Head, you would have seen us on the way back -
cool out, but there were heated liners under those coats...
