Hey Folks,

I am new to this forum but I am searching for a dash mount for a gps for my '05 1800. I understand that Goldwing Gadgets is no longer in business and that Jon has retired. I really liked that mount. I have tried various handlebar positions and I am not satisfied because of my vision. Does anyone have any other advice or ideas for a similar mount? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

minuteman, Just a thought---- a take off

windshield and mount it to the shield.

Check your state laws.

I have seen them mounted to the dash also... behind the windshield. While not for me, I rode one of the bikes with that set up and I thought it worked pretty good. The one I rode just used one of the many Garman mounts that are available. It was a Zumo 550 I think. Ram mount makes some pretty nifty mounts.

I made my own out of polycabonate and a dash mount device made by http://www.vpaccessories.com/1800.htm .

Scroll down to Radar Detector Holder

A buddy of mine used the same Radar Detector Holder (RDH) and fastened the Ram mount that comes in the Zumo 6XX box to the RDH. I'm not sure which gps you have, but there are mounts that you could buy, like this one http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogRes...d/082065077045066045050051056085/Default.aspx
that would work the same way.

If you are interested I can have him supply a picture and I will post it here.

I made my own back in '05..very simple, bent a piece of stainless steel over dash, & a support brkt. under dash.
Used it with the heavy I-way 500 & now with the Zumo 660.

Deucalion, how hard was it to remove the top dash pad? awsome idea. I just bought a 2001 goldwing last weekend. and I don't like the gps's mounted to handlebar and the bmw I had was on top of dash and I liked it that way. I am going to build one like yours to fit my gps. I was just wondering how hard it was to remove dash panal. thanks mike

Check with Electrical Connection, Lewis announced a GL1800 GPS dashmount in September on the EC Facebook page. I don't see it on the website so i would give them a call.

GPS mount for 01-13 GL1800, 88-00 GL1500 & Victory Vision. May fit others....
They come in a black powdercoat finish. Shown raw for clarity.

Used the search feature and resurrecting an oldie here.

Are there any new options for dash-mounted GPS?

I would like to find something similar to Jon's old front and center option.

Rickwinger, Check this one out.

This puts the GPS directly in front of you and practically sits on the dash.

Thanks!

My windshield is un-vented so, unless I buy an different windshield, I will be limited to a dash or handlebar type mount.

After posting I browsed over to Electrical Connection and found theirs.

And looking into the box of stuff, my Zumo has a RAM ball type of power service in the box so I'll end up going with some variety of a RAM mount.

Is is my imagination, or is the after-market drying up for that type of accessory on the GL18's?

V&P makes a dash mount - scroll down their page to see it. http://vpaccessories.com/1800.htm

a better link for farkle shelf: http://www.firecreekacc.com/accessories.htm

I have had this dash mount and it worked very well. I have one now made many moons ago from a member here named Jon. I think the dash mount is by far the best place to mount a GPS on the Wing. It is right in your line of sight so you never have to take your eyes off the road. My friend has a Ram mount with a Garmin 550. Not only it huge looking by the handlebars, he is always looking away.
