After visiting several dealers and trying on the Advant X and never finding one big enough I ordered one from Dennis Kirk in 3XL white. DK always delivers! 👍 First off, the helmet comes in a classy backpack carrying case and is then wrapped in a quality helmet bag. Very nice! The helmet itself appears high quality so 5 stars for first impressions.
I ordered 3xl because the 2xl was too tight on my cheeks and though still tight the 3xl at least seemed tolerable. Otherwise, fitment seemed fine so I decided it was a keeper.
Today, the first real test happened...at least as much test as I can give a helmet without crashing. I had a 400 mile ride that started out in cold and rain, morphed into upper 80's and ended up in 50mph crosswinds and plummeting temperatures. Welcome to a day of North Dakota riding!
The helmet was good in the rain...no leaks! The venting seemed pretty good when it got hot, too. Noise levels in the helmet seemed typical until those crosswinds hit. Then, it was louder than my Shoei Neotec 2.
I removed the helmet a few times during the day and each time I struggled with the awkward ratchet strap assembly. I suppose I'll get used to it but it's unnecessarily cumbersome.
The other mechanisms were flawless. The flip over chinbar is great (I like open face helmets). Both shields are of great quality although I prefer darker tint on the sunshield.
As the hours accumulated, one major thing began to irritate me with the helmet. The nevkroll seemed too tight for my head and neck and this forced the front of the helmet down onto my eyebrows. By the end of the ride I hated the helmet.
i really hoped the Advant X would be my helmet savior but, alas, it'll just be another overpriced part timer.
Three stars from this buyer.
