Hello all, I’ll be heading to Harrison this morning and will meet you for lunch tomorrow.
I plan on riding Wednesday, Thursday and maybe Friday.
Can’t wait to see you all again!
Greg

That sounds great Greg, we should be in Harrison at Jamis's around 11:00ish on Tuesday. To see our location on our ride up, check my spot tracker. The link is in the first post of this thread!!

Larry and I met in Dover this morning with great anticipation of meeting up with two more riding buddies from points North. Greg @231wingman and Randy @1potter1. We fueled up and pulled away shortly after 8:30. The plan was to run up highway 7 straight to Harrison for the 11:00 lunch meeting with Randy and Greg. This turned into a very bad decision. I was reminded of why I mostly avoid highway 7. :cautious: We ran into the expected construction zones north of Pelsor, and a lot of traffic which compounded the next encounter. What we did not anticipate were the mowers. We had two running in front of us with a truck following and his emergency lights flashing. Behind that was an 18 wheeler, then two more vehicles then Larry and I plus several vehicles behind us. It just happened to be on a section of the highway with no passing zones. There were some opportunities, but I felt like there were too many witnesses.:LOL:
However, after lunch the remainder of the route served us very well.

Here we are visiting in the parking lot before going in to eat.

The rack and bag on the back of my bike is mounted so I can test it out before the Northwest trip Larry and I are planning for the first week of June.

If you have not had the pleasure of eating at Jamie's in Harrison, we would recommend you remedy that on your next trip to Arkansas. The food is good and the dessert was great!!

After lunch we took highway 43 into the Ozarks and made our first stop here:

Wasn't sure the Buffalo Outdoor Center in Ponca would be open. To our pleasure we found that it was!

Success!!! we managed to get these two guys escorted down into the Arkansas River Valley. Tomorrow we take another journey into the Ozarks, looking at the Push Mountain area and Heidi's Ugly Cakes for lunch. We will be meeting in Atkins at the Casey's General Store at 8:30 a.m. if anyone wants to join the fun.

Thanks Larry, that camera does a good job!! (y)

That pic behind the line of traffic is painful to look at ... I will be avoiding that section of road for awhile.

And BTW: did you notice the equipment gathering on highway 12/16 next to that pile of gravel! Looks like the chip and seal could start any day!!

YES!! I wish they would quit messing with our good roads!!!! I hate chip/seal (n)

They have it by my house in both directions.

If I'm late in the morning that is the reason.....I did not oversleep...o_Oo_O

Route for the day ...

Our destination for the day was Heidi's for lunch. She did not disappoint, it was very good. We spent a long time sitting at the picnic table and visiting. Really enjoyed that!!

We complained a lot about the weather today. The forecast was for Sunny skies, temp in the 70s with no wind. They got two out of three. Once we got Northeast of Marshall it was cloudy, even got some rain on the way back south on Push Mountain. On the way back to Marshall, it was like a light switch was turned on. It got sunny and very nice real quick.
We suspected something was up with the forecast when we made this stop on the way up to Marshall. Look at the view behind us.

Even so, it was a really nice day of riding 305 miles of curvy Arkansas Ozarks roads. A little rain and fog could not dampen our day!!

It is time for our out of state tourist to turn north for home. Larry will escort them North tomorrow morning with a ride on highway 125 in Missouri included in the trip. I will be unable to go on this time, they wore out my front tire and kicked me to the side. ;)

I have an appointed Friday to get it replaced and have the bike thoroughly examined before Larry and I leave for our Northwest trip.

A good days ride..290 miles for me. Here we are, almost to Heidi's where we all had a great sandwich. Guess who was the only one to get one of her delicious "ugly cakes".......Bob! but I didn't see a picture of his desert today?? After all that chocolate yesterday he may have been feeling a little guilty. :p:ROFLMAO:

Wow no mercy ... wear my tire out then give me a hard time about it!! ;)

Heidi messed up my plan, after that nice dessert yesterday, I thought it would be good to wait a couple days before eating another substantial dessert. Oh well, best laid plans ... I carried it home in the bike and thought I would eat it in a couple days. It didn't make it until sundown!!!

Thanks Greg and Randy for joining use for some very good riding and conversation. Really enjoyed it, come back any time!!(y)

From there we went out hwy160 to 125 then up to hwy76. Today we made that run with absolutely no traffic, what a great run that was. It really topped off 3 days of riding with these two great riders and friends.....Here we said our goodbys..they went north and I turned around and ran it in the opposite direction..(y)(y)

Wish I could have been there, there WOULD have been some dessert! They usually have some real good cake ready to serve!

Nothing better than highway 125 and with NO traffic. That has to be the closest to paradise a rider can get. Glad you were able to get our buddies escorted toward home.

Hope you guys can come back soon!!

Bob/Larry and Greg,
Thanks again for the hospitality, fellowship and leading the way!
After being hunkered down for the last couple of months it was a treat to get down and knock some of the rust off.
Yep, the good lord gave us a wink today on MO 160/125, it was silky smooth with no traffic, the reins were definitely held a little loose:)

The riding for the end of May don't look so good according to the weather guessers? Unless we want to practice our riding in the rain before the big trip!

I have been watching the rain for the last five days myself here in Maggie and the next few days forecast looks just like yours.
I did get three good sunny days when I got here....but it has been wet ever since.

I'm looking at this from a positive outlook! Larry and I are pulling out for points west on June 3. All this rain will help keep me from doing serious damage to my tires before leaving! (y) (y):)

Wow, that is an ugly forecast!! Hope it improves for us by the 3rd. This has been a wet spring for sure. Looks like I will have plenty of time to attend to my tires and get my bike ready here in the shop while listening to it rain....plus I can get ahead some on my sleep.😑😑😁
