Gang,
I know it's a bit late for this but, I'm presently watching the Mecum Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction. Man, I'm in heaven. There's some of the neatest motorcycles ever made on there. If you get a chance to see this or tape it or, if it comes on again, tape it or watch it as it happens. They've got really, really old bikes, '50s, '60s, '70s and a whole lot more. They just sold a flawless Kawasaki H1 500CC Triple. It was GORGEOUS!!! Man, I wish I was rich and, THERE!
Scott

P.S. I just looked, it's on for another 3 hours. NBCSN is the network it's on.

I was interested in the Kawasaki KZ1300......thought I might take the ride up to Vegas and bid on it. It went for $24K......a bit out of my comfort zone. They also had 2 CBX's there, but I did not see them go across the block.

So I moved from Sun Diego last year to Henderson, Nevada... no excuse not to go to the auction. We have it all wrong my GW brothers....
Lot# S1 - '71 Honda QA50 sold for $3500, Lot# S5 - Honda Z50 sold for $6500...there was Lot# S135- (2) Z50s still in a crate...the bids started at $4000...mini bikes...who would of guessed?...there were some early Honda "Monkey" bikes that went for even more. (Raid the 401K... how many QA50s/Z50s can you get in a two car garage?)

On to more realistic (big bike) data...special two strokes: ( I'm a triples guy as well as a GW guy)
S19 '66 X6 hustler=$9500, S20 '76 RD400=$11,500, S50 '56 Scott Flying Squirrel=$17.500, S63 '86 Suz RG500 Gamma ( beautiful) = $31K, S98 '76 Yam TZ750 $62.5, S100 a custom TZ750 dirt tracker ( Champion Framed) $60K, S182 '83 Suz RGB 500 RR= $37.5, S184 '71 Yam TR2B $16K

Famous owners:
Bud Ekins Husky S134 '69 360c sportsman=$18k, Brad Lackey's S138 '69 H1=$16K ( his hand built MX SR250 did not meet reserve )...there was Steve McQ harley, but I'm not a HD guy. ( but I do own a Buell)

Triples:
S56 '72 H2= $11k, S75 '72 H2= $18k, S76 '70 H1= $13k, S78 '70 H1= $9k, S102 H2=$12K, S181 '70 H1R =$35K,

I'll add some pictures, the first will be the "halls" with all the bikes...$20 per day to get in $100 to bid ( with access for all days (4 days total)) $300 to bid and get up front near the "run way" ( and TV) ...food and drink were reasonable ( $3 hot dogs, $3 bottles of Gatorade/water...Hmmm $6 for alum bottled beer ( bud lite)...plenty of seats - some seats were reserved in the upper gallery for bidders, but you could always find a empty one....if you go take ear plugs the sound system is deafening...my ears are still riiinnnngingggg....and for us old guys, plenty of bathrooms!...no hassles as you can go up close and really inspect the bikes ( except for some in the high $ brackets >$100K)...high $ for my time there was S151 '37 Crocker small tank = $350K ( internet sale...i think) ... S126 '75 Duc SS with a green frame = $225K ( yikes! those old desmos are demanding big $) ...big disappointment...S183 & S183.1 a '94 RC45 & a '90 RC30 owner trying to sell as a pair....wanted $150K for both...didn't sell.
enjoy the pix

I saw a 1939 Crocker go for $640,000!!! An old Yamaha 360 enduro went for $10,000.

I too was surprised at the amounts people were spending for old dirt bikes!

I watched some of it on live on the internet, would be curious to see actually how many TOTAL $$$ were actuality spent. The collection, quantity and variety was the best I have ever seen. The amt of M/C sold was VERY high. prices were all over the place.

The TV taped version was on already, SUN 1/27 10PM to 3am NBCSN & maybe they will run it again sometime.

The videos are on Youtube. very interesting to watch (with volume OFF!!! )

They pumped all those MC through all day long for 5days!!! one after the other.. Very professionally done.
