If you just tap the switch, it toggles the mics either on or off. If you hold the switch down, the CB activates.
Here's a tip...if you ride in a group. Turn off your "Roger Beep" on your CB. Nothing is not annoying than hearing "beep, beep, beep" every time someone turns their Mic-Mutes on or off.
Any time you hold the transmit button down, the mics are on. So regardless of whether you have the mics on or off, when you hold down the transmit button and talk, they will be on. I believe Bill Morphy designed them this way intentionally.

It really is a great product, and I am getting ready to put a new set on my 09. After having them for over 100K miles on the 2002, I just can't see riding without them.

dumb question. how do you turn off the "roger beep" ?
If you run a Blue Tooth phone, don't forget to tap your mics on again to talk. Cheers...:doorag:
