Michelin Tires??

I've seen several references in tire threads to using Michelin tires on the GL1800. The Michelin web site fitment guide doesn't list an application for the GL1800 so what Michelin tire are you using?

Michelin is making tires for the GL1500.
Trikes are using the Michelin tire on the front.
I just did a search and did not find much in the way of people running Michelins except a couple of darksiders running a rear bias ply as a front tire. Michelin has not made a tire for the GL1800 and I have talked to their reps at events about this and they just kind shrug their shoulders about it. I ran Michelins on my GL1500 a couple of times. I know there are a lot of fans of Metzlers on the board, that is about the only brand for the GL1800 tire I have not run.
Metzler fan.
I use Michelin on my cars and would try if they made a radial MT for the wing
Okay, I just went back to the posts I saw and one was a trike and the other may be a car tire. It wasn't that obvious in the post, but I think they were being glib with their reply.
Michelin has a new sport touring tire that is looking like it is about the best one on the market right now (Pilot Road II).

I really wish they would use that technology toward making a tire for the GL1800, because I think they would have a real winner on thier hands if they did.

I run those on the blackbird and was going to put them on the ST-1300 before I traded it in on the wing. They were pricy, $230 for a rear mounted at cycle gear.

You're paying way too much. I put them on my C14 and paid about $300 for a full set. I think the rear was about $150. Of course that didn't including mounting, since I do my own.

Michelin???.....right here dude!!

Correct, I run a Michelin (bias) 1500 Wing tire front and
a Kuhmo car tire on rear. This is a GREAT" combo if your
thinking about Michelins for you Wing...

What is the difference in the Michelin and and any other if the sizes are the same? (i.e. Why can't you run a GL1500 tire on a GL1800 if they are the same size)?

+100000000 :agree:
I ran the Pilot GT bias on the 1500 and loved them, got about 20,000 mi. on a set and the best on wet or dry roads. Sure wish they would make a set for the 1800 by the time I'm ready for my first new set.
You would think that the best radial tire maker would make them for a bike that is made to have them on it:shrug: . I think there would also be a bigger market there too than on the 1500.

You can run a bias tire on a radial motorcycle and you
can run a radial on a bias motorcycle. This is "FACT"
not hear say or other nonesence. I use to test tires
for Michelin,Metzeler,Avon,Pirelli and I road raced back
when the radials were first coming out. The tire
engineers had no problem running a bias on the front
and a radial on back or visa versa on our race bikes.

Radial motorcycle tires are nothing like radial car tires
at all so running mixed bias/radial on a motorcycle is
no problem. Running bias on a radial motorcycle is no
problem and neither is visa versa.

The biggest problem with motorcycle tires "PERIOD" is
the motorcycle owners that don't check their air
pressures in their tires.....which is about 90% of the
motorcycle riders out their on the road.....
Other then that run the tire that makes you happy.

PS: One thing you will notice with bias tires on a radial
tuned motorcycle is: it will have a ruffer ride"

Good Luck and ride safe....

I ran the michelin radials on my 1500. They were great.
Then as mentioned, a few riders overloaded their bikes, with under-inflated tires. A couple of tires separated, Michelin recalled all the tires and paid for replacement bias tires of any brand.
If they produced a tire for the 1800 I would definitely buy them.
The owners of this website does not endorse the use of "any" car tires on a motorcycle. This board has been created so that there is no confusion that the owners of this site does not recommend, advocate or encourage the use of car tires on a motorcycle. All car tire threads will be moved here.

Why is it always the same people that violate the forum rules and taint valid threads with the mention of CT's ? Over and over again??
