I changed my buddy's air filter this afternoon. He wasn't sure it needed to be changed but since it's been 24,000 miles since we last changed it he figured it was time. The funny thing is that last year I offered to put screens over the air intakes and he declined the offer.

Forget the screens. Just sprinkle the new filter with "Decon". :joke:

These mice must be working for K&N and this looks like a super filter....very little dirt can go thru this one.

Look familar Mark, lol?
Wonder what it is about the mice covering all the filter but that 10% section? Guess they need a place to take a whiz.

Steve, your friend rats must be kin to the one's that lived on my air filter.
Rat caused extensive damage to the wiring in my Acura and a friends Honda
SUV. Something about the insulation on the wire they loved to chew on.

I have been told (no confirmation) that a fabric softner / dryer sheet will repel rodents ? Any one else heard this?

The only thing that will sure-fire repel them is death! KILL KILL KILL them varmints! Decon, TomCat, sticky traps, spring traps, cats, snakes, whatever ya got and use liberally!

So - how about those screens now? Does he still think he doesn't need them?

He installed a screen on one side while I did the other. He's lucky there wasn't a bunch of wires chewed since I found acorns and leaves beneath the seat at the relay box.

Another one for you, ALEXB:

This was in an SEi filter housing. The corn is every kernal from an ear of maize that the wife had hung in the basement. I now keep her mouse food in plastic jugs! (and lots of "healthy" snacks around in the garage for them to nibble!)
