I am headed west again as soon as the weather gets a little more favorable. The last two times I did this I stayed at the KOA near Lafayette because I don't know of another one in the area. I am flexible as to how far from Lafayette I stay for the night. Is there anyone on this board familure with this area that could recomend one? It has to be close to I-10. There is nothing wrong with the KOA except $30 a night for a tent spot is a little too steep for my wallet. Thanks

Capt. Bob, everything near I-10 is expensive.........I agree $30 is high for a tent rate, but that seems to be the norm. Wish I had a solution for you Sir, take care.

You will be motoring by two great parks with fees from $14 to $20

Fontainebleau State Park

Fairview State Park

A lot closer to Layafette is Palmentto Island

If you happen to make you way there, you might want to make your way to Avery Island, home of Tabasco (great day trip and is really close by)

caution, the visitors center parking lot is gravel but it is not bad.

and if you've a mind for something very special and different how about breakfast (like none you've ever had) Saturday Morning in Breaux Bridge (if you want in you need to get there early, door open at 7:30, bands starts about 8:30)
I like the Orielle de Cochon, if you want an Omelet, try the "don't mess with my Tasso" (spicy pork meat with onions) comes with a side of grits, be sure to get the cheese grits, my wife just orders a side of cheese gits and that's it for her.
