Reducing the amount of air getting to the air box will hurt your mpg and hp. The screen may reduce air flow by 20% and this is a guess not a test on a flow bench . And I could be wrong :22yikes:.

I would guess the mouse nest will do the same.......and the screen has less odor

I made screens for my intake two years ago, by using the screen on the bottom of the OEM air filter (had mice then too). Two years later No noticeable difference in fuel useage.........

1/4" mesh hardware cloth
no mice
I've heard of the filter screen method ...
it works too
I did mine on the day I picked it up new
Had mice once on my 1500 found all
sorts of stuff...cig butts (I don't even smoke)

Sound like your using fine mesh metal cloth - 1/4" alum gutter screen will have no reduction in air flow and the mice just hate the stuff. Plus it has a shiny metal look :eek:4:
