I hope you took the ride. I just saw this and it has been a year and a half since I made the ride, but I enjoyed it all the way to where it turns to dirt. I wish I had been on my dual sport and rode the dirt too but the wing is so much more comfortable for longer rides.
Sorry, I forgot to post an update.
I took the ride in June and the road was clear. We really enjoyed it but the bike did run pretty hot on the way up. Temperature at the bottom was 103 and it only cooled to 89 at the end of the pavement. The speed I had to go was fast enough so the fans wouldn't kick on but not fast enough to get good air moving over the radiator. No problem; we stopped about halfway up and let the bike cool and took a walk to stretch our legs. Overall it was a good day trip for us. I'd do it again.
