"The Pima County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, July 15, said Catalina Highway will reopen once road repairs are complete and it is safe for travel. "

"On Tuesday, July 14, the U.S. Forest Service announced federal land on Mount Lemmon would be off limits until Nov. 1. That closure includes campsites and hiking trails. "

Cool video.

First small rain in the burn area caused this debri flow in a local wash. It’s going to be a while before they consider the highway safe for travel with the rainy season just starting.

Then there will be tons of rocks falling on the road without the vegetation to secure them.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for the road to open.

My wife has family out there off of Edwin Rd, so the runoff is a normal thing out there.

The next couple of days will bring on some needed rain - of course, it hits the mountains first. Expect those flash floods to be more intense than normal.
