Did you know that just off the Natchez Trace is a huge stone wall dedicated to Te-lah-nay, an Yuchi Indian? The wall is made up of rocks (tons) from all 50 states, several countries (143), and one meteorite. The wall is over 12 feet thick and runs the length of the property. The wall has a sacred area that at first glance looks like a circle but is actually the shape of a mother's womb, another circled area contains is a place for weddings and music. This little known marvel is visted by frequently by Indians from all over the US.
We met the builder (Tom Hendrix) of the wall and heard his amazing story about his great-great-grandmother's journey to the Indian Nations and the construction of the wall. Each stone was placed by hand, one rock at a time by Tom Hendrix. His work has taken 27 years, worn out 39 wheelbarrows and three pickup trucks.
