I thought I would use the Honda Navigation to go to work one day, and after I selected Go, it said it would take me 38 mins. to go 20 miles of freeway riding.
I did get into some bad traffic while going to work that day.
My question is, does this get its information from current traffic conditions even though it doesn't give you traffic alerts?

I don't use Car Play or have an XM antenna, so for me, the answer is no.

Agreed. The GPS has no way of being aware of traffic conditions. So if there's a traffic jam, the arrival time is based on the posted speed limit, not the actual speed being traveled at the time.

You can purchase an XM Traffic/Weather subscription with your XM service which would give the navigation knowledge of traffic conditions (not sure if it'll actually use them in calculations like Google Maps though). But without XM traffic, it's dumb to traffic conditions.

Did it have you routed on the freeway?

Does the bike have preferences set for 'avoid expressways'?

The GPS works on two inputs, one from the posted speed limits within the software and second from the speed your traveling obtained via satellites, all giving you your arrival time. It has no idea, based on others that have said, on surrounding traffic, unless you have Waze, XM satellite etc. Hope this help somewhat.
