I got a 2010 with rotor, can ship by 11am monday if you need it.My wife and I are on our way to Alaska on our 06 wing with 95,000 & on it but there seems to be a problem. Last week Fri. I changed the final drive gear oil and found more stuff than usual maybe even chips this had never happened before, talked to my dealer he said flush it a few time and see, I did and all seamed well. Yesterday the 29th we left Racine wi. went Rogers Mn. and today to Minot ND. a couple of hundred miles ago we started to notice a strange noise, after arriving at our hotel I put it on the center stand and when I put in gear I could hear a roughness to it not much but enough, we are 2.5 miles from Pure Hoda and will stop by there in the morning but if any one can give me information in the mean time I would appreciate it. Thanks in advace.
Thank you all for the great response, I am at Pure Honda in Minot and they have a used one and will be able to install today. Pure Honda apears to a really nice place I will let you all know the final results later.
John....great news. Hope they treat you well and you can get going quickly.
You're obviously at a dealer and should expect to pay a bit more but don't let the gouge you. Trike takeoff final drives with near zero miles are all over e-bay and on this forum for $100 or less shipped.
You're at a dealer and they have inventory costs and other things so it wouldn't surprise me if they wanted to charge you $200 or $250 for it and another couple hundred in labor so getting out of there for around $400-500 might be reasonable.
Just don't let them charge you something obscene like 800 or more. That would just be wrong.
If they do, I'm guessing there's not much you can do about it since you are already there and don't have many options other than leaving and waiting for a member to fedex you a part that you install yourself. Regardless, hopefully this gives you some knowledge to fight back a bit if they do try to over charge you.
