I stick the ball all the way through so it goes out the other side and then I manipulate the white lever to get the cable into the slot.

If you simply push the ball completely through the hole and out the other side about an inch or two it gives you enough slack in the cable to then manipulate the white lever outboard and slip the cable into the slot. I can do it in about two seconds.

My problem is with side pocket, (2018 DCT) . Will release but only open halfway, then have to assist it.
Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

This happens when the tab for the side pocket that engages the side of the top shelter is out of position. The tab gets out of place when the top shelter is removed. You can see the tab I'm talking about by removing the deflector panel behind the radiator outlet. I'll see if I can find some photos of it.
