Time to join the forum. Looks like this is a great place for information.
I purchased a new 2018 DCT a couple of months ago. It was a dealer left over, and I got a great price on it.
I never thought I would own a Goldwing. I have never liked the 1990's through 2017 models, sorry not trying to offend any one.
My wife said I needed a trike, due to bad knees and back. Well, a trike isn't a motorcycle, so I told her I would get on three wheels, but with a sidecar rig.
I saw the new Goldwing when I went into the dealer to show the manager the write on the new Yamaha Eluder. I asked what model bikes I saw across the show room, he replied a Goldwing. I couldn't believe it.
I sat on the bike, and it felt great, not ponderous. He explained the model variations, and I eventually took one out for a test ride.

I spent several months researching the Goldwing, and the BMW Grand American. I didn't test ride the BMW, but sat on it for nearly a half hour talking to the salesman. It felt and looked ponderous. Large tank, If I wanted a GPS, I had to buy one from BMW to mount in the caddy. I went right back to my Honda dealer and sat on the Goldwing, and decided this was going to be my new bike.
The new GL1800 replaced my aging UltraClassic. I kept the UltraClassic though, we have too many memories, and besides, I wouldn't get much in a trade or sale, so it is my second touring bike. I really like the Goldwing much better, and there was no way I could buy a new Harley, with all the fearutes and the performance of my GL1800 for what I paid for the Goldwing.
My only issues are the lack of storage space. I knew this going into the buy, and will live with this. Second is the TBW response. It is snappy for sure. Honda can remove the sport and economy mode as far as I am concerned. Third, mounting a sidecar. Well, when the warranty runs out, I'll ride to Hannigans and have them install one for me.
I did pick up a Yamaha Venture Royal, with a Champion Escort side car a couple of weeks after getting the GL1800. I am removing the sidecar, and an mounting it on my UltraClassic. Anyone want to buy a very low mileage 89 Venture Royal :-}

I have put nearly 3000 miles on my new bike, and love it. I am very glad I bought the Goldwing, and have watch hunderds of YouTube videos on it.
That's my story, and I'm sticking with it.

Welcome neighbor. Southern Maine?

Great bike. Sidecar always seemed like a fun idea but haven't tried it yet. Does the Wing have the trunk (tour or standard)?

And of course let me the first to point out to you:

This post is worthless without pictures. :grin2:

You are right, here's my new ride, Belle. Yes, I name my bikes, that way when I fuss at them, they know who I am talking to :-}

Ah, Monmouth... here’s a bit of trivia some may find interesting about Monmouth. Unless the boat launch is open, there are no public restrooms in Monmouth, and the jerks in either of the stores won’t let your wife use theirs. You can probably figure out how I know.... :frown2:
